Thanks for your interest in volunteering with GSP! However, as Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Green Seattle Partnership work to do our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19 to the most vulnerable individuals, we are cancelling volunteer programs starting March 13 and going through April 13. Please continue to check back here for updated information and opportunities to get involved as soon as we are cleared to restart volunteer events. If you have any other questions during this time regarding volunteering, please reach out to info@greenseattle.org.

Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetland - Green Seattle Day with ...11/02/2019

Activities

Plant a forest and grow community! Help us create a healthier, happier, and greener Seattle by coming out to our biggest planting event of the year – Green Seattle Day! From creating wildlife habitat, to combating climate change, and providing a place for residents to recreate: having a hand in Green Seattle Day is one of the best ways to give back to your neighbors, parks, and your local forest.

Join the fun with the Tilth Alliance and be one of hundreds of volunteers planting native trees, shrubs, and groundcovers that will become the future forest of Seattle. All community members are welcome, and no experience is necessary! The event is family friendly and open to all ages. We'll have tasty pumpkin curry after the planting!

Open to the public

All ages OK

141 out of 100 volunteers registered.

What to Bring

Come dressed for the weather (rain or shine) in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes (rubber boots, hiking shoes or boots), long sleeves, long pants, warm layers and rain jacket. We'll have tools and gloves for you to use, as well as coffee, water, a mid-morning snack and some farm-fresh pumpkin curry afterward. Help reduce waste by bringing your own refillable coffee mug/water bottle if you have one.

Where to Meet

Head to the welcome station by the greenhouse at the north end of the farm. We'll be spread out throughout the farm while we plant, so look for event leads wearing orange vests. Be sure to enjoy some tasty, farm-fresh pumpkin curry around noon at the classroom/kitchen building.

Where to Park

Onsite parking is very limited. Please carpool, walk, bike, take the bus or use light rail.
