Discovery Park - Roots to Waves: A …11/03/2023

Activities

The City of Seattle along with community organizations are inviting the community to celebrate Seattle’s urban forest with several events throughout the
week!

Join Sea Potential in exploring the interconnectedness between forest and sea at Discovery Park Beach! This is a BIPOC affinity event where we'll be strengthening our sense of place with site history and sensory-based activities to start, then share interesting facts and observations as we walk. If you want to reflect on what contributes to a vibrant and thriving community for you and our non-human relatives, we hope to see you there!

Several other free events are available throughout the week for community members to learn about Seattle’s urban forest. Join us for native plant walks, green space tours, and more! All events are open to
people of all ages and abilities.

*This is a BIPOC affinity event*
*The walk on the beach might not be the best for small kids; this even may be best suited for children 6+*

All ages OK

9 out of 20 participants registered.

What to Bring

Please bring weather appropriate attire and gear:

1. Sunscreen
2. Warm layers
3. Waterproof shoes (or shoes you don't mind getting sandy and wet)
4. Rain jacket
5. Water bottle
6. Any additional desired snacks (light snack will be provided)

Where to Meet

We will be meeting at Discovery Park beach (also known as Fort Lawton Beach) in the small grassy area between the parking lot and the lighthouse.

Where to Park

Parking is extremely limited at the beach. We recommend either parking in the South Lot and walking over (30 minute fairly flat walk) or parking in the North Lot and shuttling down. There will be a van to transport folks from the North Parking Lot down to the beach.

*More details to come on whether the City will also be able to provide a shuttle or not from one of the farther parking lots.*
