This event was canceled

Activities

Work with a team of UW restoration ecology students to restore what had been a denuded naval air station to healthy habitat which will increase human wellbeing and ecosystem services. (We'll be working where some of the runways shown in the listing photo once were).

Work will include removing invasive plants like blackberry and ivy and small diameter invasive trees and might include spreading wood chips. This work is to prepare for later planting.

All ages OK

7 out of 7 participants registered.

What to Bring

Dress for the day's weather and wear long pants, long sleeved top, and closed toe shoes you don't mind getting dirty. Wear layers if it is chilly and if it is rainy bring rain gear. Bring a full water bottle and snack.

Where to Meet

Exact meeting place will be listed later. However it will either be at the top of Kite Hill or on the south side of Sports Fields 1-4.

Where to Park

Park in or near the Warren G. Magnuson Park swim beach parking lot (Lot E4). To reach it enter the park eastbound on NE 65th St. from the Sandpoint Way NE/NE 65th St intersection. From there proceed straight eastward about a half mile to a stop sign then bear left (North) about 3/8 mile to reach the swim beach parking lot. Directional signage along the route shows the way to the swim beach.

It is also possible to park in lot W6 on NE 74th St and walking eastward although the walk is slightly longer.
