Discovery Park - South Meadow Blackberry Purge08/07/2024
Activities
Even though we thought we got every root last year, blackberry has a way of hiding until it warms up. But now they are showing themselves and trying to gain a foothold again. We may spread mulch wherever we disturb the soil to make sure that weed seeds don't have a chance to sprout.
We will likely have a chance to water some of the newly installed plants to make sure they make it through their first stressful summer.
Some of our work is assisting last year's plantings; other is in preparation for planting this coming fall. All of this work is improving habitat in the south meadow. Gratitude to all who help the park's habitat.
