Warren G. Magnuson Park - UW Restoration Ecology Work …10/08/2025

This event is full (registration closed)

Activities

This is a work party for students in the UW Restoration Ecology class. Here's your chance to roll up your sleeves and dig into real-world restoration work. Together we’ll get the site ready for fall planting by tackling some hands-on tasks like pulling invasive weeds and spreading mulch. It’s a great opportunity to gain practical field experience, work alongside classmates, and make a visible difference in the landscape.

Adults only

30 out of 30 participants registered.

What to Bring

We may be weeding plants with spines or thorns, so wear long pants and a shirt with long sleeves. Gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. Wear closed toe shoes you don't mind getting dirty. Dress for the day's weather. Wear layers if it is chilly and if it is rainy bring rain gear. Bring a full water bottle and snack.

Where to Meet

We'll meet at the northeastern portion of the Sports Meadow Loop where it junctions with the North Park Cross Trail.

It can be reached from Lot E4 (see Where to Park section) by walking northwest over Kite Hill (the mowed grass rise) to the north North Park Cross Trail. Proceed west (leftwards) on the trail for 200 yards to the junction with the Sports Meadow Loop.

If taking the bus, exit the bus at 74th St and proceed towards parking lot W6. From lot W6, walk eastward past the rugby field to the Sports Meadow Loop. Take the Sports Meadow Loop (left/north may be a bit shorter) to the junction with the North Park Cross Trail.
