Happy Latine Conservation Month!

Join us for a morning of creating art on the land through printmaking with Eileen Jimenez!

Participants will get to explore Connection to Land with pre-carved blocks and water coloring that centers land, place, and joy.

Eileen Jiminez's Bio:

Eileen's mother is Maria Cruz, her grandmother is Eloisa, and her great grandmother is Ysidora, matriarchs of the Ñätho (Otomi Peoples of Michoacan/Guanajuato, Mexico). As an IndigiQueer leader, community member, educator and as an artist, everything she does and creates is influenced by her many intersecting and lived experiences.

Eileen uses printmaking and mixed-media techniques to develop her own ways of telling stories in the complex layers that they exist in, as well as to demonstrate the ways that we are connected to the Land and to each other. In her current body of work, she focuses on the embodiment of the divine that is manifested through our bodies and our hands specifically. In her work, you will also see her commitment to centering the stories of joy that flow through our communities.

¡Acompáñanos a una mañana de creación artística en contacto con la tierra a través del grabado con Eileen Jimenez!

Los participantes explorarán la conexión con la tierra utilizando bloques previamente tallados y acuarelas, en una actividad centrada en la tierra, el lugar y la alegría.

Biografía de Eileen Jimenez:

La madre de Eileen es Maria Cruz, su abuela es Eloisa y su bisabuela es Ysidora; todas ellas matriarcas del pueblo Ñätho (pueblo otomí de Michoacán y Guanajuato, México). Como líder, miembro de la comunidad, educadora y artista *IndigiQueer*, todo lo que hace y crea está influenciado por sus múltiples experiencias vitales y sus identidades entrelazadas.

Eileen emplea técnicas de grabado y técnicas mixtas para desarrollar sus propias formas de narrar historias —respetando las complejas capas en las que estas existen— y para mostrar los vínculos que nos unen a la Tierra y entre nosotros. Su obra actual se centra en la encarnación de lo divino, manifestada específicamente a través de nuestros cuerpos y nuestras manos. En su trabajo también se refleja su compromiso de poner en primer plano las historias de alegría que fluyen por nuestras comunidades.

What to Bring

Please dress in layers and in clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. Closed-toed shoes, long sleeves, and pants are recommended. Bring a full water bottle and snacks. Don't forget to bring your rain gear if rain is in the forecast.
