Discovery Park - Capehart weeding and watering07/19/2026

Activities

We meet at the Capehart sign next to Magnolia Boulevard. Capehart Forest is the most wildlife-diverse area in Discovery Park. Come help us promote forest health and increase its biodiversity by weeding out invasive plants and watering native perennials, shrubs and trees.

Adults only

What to Bring

Protect your feet and ankles! Wear ankle high work boots -not sneakers! Wear a long sleeved, durable shirt to protect from thorns, and durable pants. If you have rain pants, wear them since -it’s easy to get muddy. Do not wear shorts! Wear a hat to protect from the sun. A water-resistant coat (and lots of layers if it's cold) are also helpful. We have plenty of tools, but if you have a favorite hand trowel or clippers, please bring them. Same with gloves. We have plenty, but if you have a favorite pair, please bring it. We are unable to provide food or water, so please bring them to the site.

Where to Meet

Please hike to the site and meet at the entrance to Capehart Forest, which is on Discovery Park Blvd. opposite the Texas Way extension. You will see the yellow informative sign describing the history of the site.

Where to Park

East parking lot (Visitor Center), north parking lot (near Daybreak Star Center), or south parking lot. The North parking lot is the closest. You will be ticketed if you try to park anywhere along Discovery Park Boulevard.
