Capehart Forest is the most wildlife-diverse area in Discovery Park. Come help us promote forest health and increase its biodiversity by weeding out invasive plants and watering native plants. We will be removing invasive blackberries, scotch broom, English ivy and grass as well as watering and mulching around native trees, shrubs and pollinator plants.

What to Bring

Protect your feet, ankles and hands! If possible, wear ankle high work boots -not sneakers or open-toed shoes! Wear a long sleeved, durable shirt to protect from thorns, and durable pants. Do not wear shorts! Wear a hat to protect from the sun. A water-resistant coat and pants (and lots of layers if it's cold) are also helpful. We have plenty of tools and gloves, but if you have favorite gloves, hand trowel or clippers, please bring them. We are unable to provide food or water, so please bring them to the site.

Where to Meet

Please hike to the site and meet at the entrance to Capehart Forest, which is on Discovery Park Blvd. opposite the Texas Way extension and a cross walk. You will see the yellow informative sign describing the history of the site. From the North Parking lot it can take between 15-30 minutes.
