GSP is partnering with Queer the Land (queertheland.org) to support the ongoing stewardship of this oak understory garden as a space to build community and relationships with first food plants of the Coast Salish region. All experience levels welcome!

For this event we'll work on...
1) Collecting and processing seeds -- Feel free to bring baggies if you'd like to take some seeds for growing
2) Cutting down the meadow patches -- Our annual late-summer practice in place of traditional controlled burns that maintained oak-camas prairies across the northwest

Please note these activities may involve bending and kneeling. There's seating on-site, but the garden isn't wheelchair-accessible.

What to Bring

Bring your own water and dress for the weather, including sunscreen and sturdy shoes. Feel free to bring your own garden gloves and hand tools, we have some on site, as well as a first-aid kit. Snacks and foraged tea will be provided.
**Please note there are not restrooms on site.**

We'll meet inside the fenced understory garden on the east side of the park: click here From the north or south end of the park, follow the trails toward the lake shore; the gate entrance is under the large oak tree.

There is free parking along the sides of the park (on S Warsaw St or 57th Ave S). For transit, there's a nearby #50 bus stop.
