Little Brook Natural Area - Fall Forest Care at …10/17/2026

Activities

A lot of progress has been made at this site to prepare for a fall planting event, but there are still a couple patches of ivy, and a patch of blackberry that need to be cleared. Mulching will follow to help diminish their return. Help us tackle these last bastions of invasives to keep native plants thriving and a wildlife habitat area looking nice for the neighborhood. Work areas are relatively level and easy to access. If the weather turns to stormy showers or wind, the work party will be rescheduled to a later date.

What to Bring

Bring yourself in sturdy shoes, long slacks, and long sleeves appropriate for the weather. Please bring your own gloves but if you don’t have any, we have a few on hand. You are welcome to bring your own tools (especially pruners), but please mark them so they go home with you. Tools, buckets, tarps, wheelbarrows, and supplies are provided. Beverages and snacks will be available.

Where to Meet

Meet at the larger, north entry on the west side of 36th Ave NE at 11715 36th Ave NE. Get there from I-5 by taking either the Lake City Way or NE 130th Street exits, head east on NE 125th Street to 36th Ave NE. Turn right and head south on 36th Ave NE. Just south of NE 120th Street look for the entry and signage on the right (west) side of the street. There is a mulch pile at the entry.

Where to Park

Parking is limited on 36th Ave NE and other residential streets in the neighborhood. Metro bus Route 65 runs along the corridor connecting Lake City to the University District via 35th Ave NE and has stops at NE 110th and NE 125th Street. Metro bus Route 75 and 61 have a stop at NE 125th Street and Lake City Way
