Beaver Pond Natural Area on TC - Fall Forest Care at …10/25/2026

Activities

This pull and dig event focuses on a solid patch of ivy awaiting removal, but other invasives found along the way, like blackberry, need to be dug out also. Mulching will follow to diminish the return of those invasive plants. Work area is tucked away in a back corner but relatively flat. Help us continue efforts to restore wildlife habitat that offsets the density of the Northgate shopping areas. If the weather turns stormy with heavy rain or wind, the event will be rescheduled to a later date.

What to Bring

Bring yourself in sturdy shoes, long slacks, and long sleeves appropriate for the weather. Please bring your own gloves but if you don’t have any, we have a few on hand. You are welcome to bring your own tools especially pruners, but please mark them so they go home with you. Tools, buckets, tarps, wheelbarrows, and supplies are provided. Beverages and snacks will be available.

Where to Meet

Meet in the entry area, on the corner bordered by NE 105th Street and 8th Ave NE on the west side of 8th. Get there from I-5 by taking the Northgate exit, and head east on Northgate Way on the north side of the mall. Take a right turn at 8th Ave NE to head south. Entrance is on the right on 8th Ave NE just south of NE 105th Street. Look for a friendly Forest Steward with a sign-in sheet, a mulch pile, and a large Sequoia tree in the corner of the entry site. There will also be event signage. We will gather for a brief orientation on tool safety and task techniques before heading to the work site.

Where to Park

Limited parking is available on 8th Ave NE, NE 105th Street, and other nearby residential streets. There is paid parking available at Northgate Mall. Bus routes 63, 67, 75, 322, and 348 all stop on 5th Ave NE at NE 103rd Street NE. You can walk across NE 105th Street from the bus stop to 8th Ave NE and the entry for the natural area.
