Magnuson ReforestationOctober 22, 10am-1pm @ Warren G. Magnuson Park Help improve habitat and create replacement forest on a formerly denuded navy airfield. The aim is to create healthy forest habitat and increase beneficial ecosystem services including provision of human enjoyment and health. It is also an opportunity to enjoy nature and learn a bit about native plants while doing satisfying work. Work is most likely to include some planting and may also include other tasks like removing invasive plants and distributing wood chip mulch more |

Prepare planting sites in key areas of the greenbelt: final invasive removal, spreading mulch, describe site characteristics.October 22, 10am-2pm @ Harrison Ridge Greenbelt In late October and early November we will be planting native species throughout the recently established areas of the greenbelt. On this day we will be working in each of those areas---clearing any remaining invasive species, weeding around last year's new plantings, and bringing woodchips to the sites. more |

Spruce Island prep for plantingOctober 22, 9am-12pm @ Discovery Park Spruce Island isn't a real island, rather an island of spruce in the middle of the south meadow. The meadow has a great view of the water. We will be preparing the site for this falls planting by removing blackberry sprouts and spreading wood chips. more |

Upper Field Blackberry RemovalOctober 22, 10am-12pm @ Thomas C. Wales Park We'll work on pruning and digging up blackberries in the upper field of the park. more |
