Community Printmaking with Eileen Jiminez at Seward ParkSeptember 26, 11am-1pm @ Seward Park Happy Latine Conservation Month! Join us for a morning of creating art on the land through printmaking with Eileen Jimenez! Participants will get to explore Connection to Land with pre-carved blocks and water coloring that centers land, place, and joy. Eileen Jiminez's Bio: Eileen's mother is Maria Cruz, her grandmother is Eloisa, and her great grandmother is Ysidora, matriarchs of the Ñätho (Otomi Peoples of Michoacan/Guanajuato, Mexico). As an IndigiQueer leader, community member, educator and as an artist, everything she does and creates is influenced by her many intersecting and lived experiences. Eileen uses printmaking and mixed-media techniques to develop her own ways of telling stories in the complex layers that they exist in, as well as to demonstrate the ways that we are connected to the Land and to each other. In her current body of work, she focuses on the embodiment of the divine that is manifested through our bodies and our hands specifically. Los participantes explorarán la conexión con la tierra utilizando bloques previamente tallados y acuarelas, en una actividad centrada en la tierra, el lugar y la alegría. Biografía de Eileen Jimenez: La madre de Eileen es Maria Cruz, su abuela es Eloisa y su bisabuela es Ysidora; todas ellas matriarcas del pueblo Ñätho (pueblo otomí de Michoacán y Guanajuato, México). Latine Conservation Month: ¡Vamos a Observar Aves!September 26, 10am-12:30pm @ Seward Park Celebrate Latine Conservation Month with a guided bird walk in the park! The walk will follow the outer loop of Seward Park, the Seward Park Loop Trail – a 2.4-mile paved path. Explore local wildlife, learn bird identification skills, and connect with others who share a passion for nature and conservation. This event welcomes birders of all experience levels and offers an opportunity to honor the rich contributions of Latine communities to environmental conservation. A Spanish-language interpreter will be present to support Spanish-speaking participants and help make the experience more accessible. Come enjoy fresh air, community, and the beauty of our local birds. 🐦🌿 ¡Celebra el Mes de la Conservación Latine con una caminata guiada de observación de aves en el parque! La caminata recorrerá el circuito exterior de Seward Park, el Sendero Seward Park Loop Trail, un camino pavimentado de 2.4 millas (3.9 km). Explora la vida silvestre local, aprende habilidades de identificación de aves y conéctate con otras personas que comparten la pasión por la naturaleza y la conservación. mulching the clandestine clearingSeptember 26, 9:30am-12:30pm @ Seward Park The "Clandestine Clearing" is about 1/5 of an acre of bare ground, the consequence of years of off-trail and recently destructive gathering. With the help of Seattle Parks, we will bring a ton of mulch, then plant, and over five years return this barren spot to healthy understory. more |
