Spurge laurel is a class B noxious weed that is just coming into bloom in February. The seeds are spread by the birds, which means they proliferate where birds roost. The easiest means of control is very simply clipping the stem below the soil line. We need to complete this task before the savannah sparrows start defending their nesting territory. We will likely finish the spurge laurel midway through the event so will finish our day by cutting back blackberry.

What to Bring

Gloves, work boots, weather appropriate clothes and something to stay hydrated. (I have some loaner gloves if youu don't have your own) I recommend a long-johns thermal layer; the meadow tall grass is guaranteed to get us wet. We will take a water break halfway through the event. Please bring a pack for carrying water and shed layers since we will be roaming throughout the day.
