Westcrest Park - Fallin' for Fungi Work …09/13/2025

Activities
Join Dirt Corps this September as we're Fallin' for Fungi and caring for our section of the West Duwamish Greenbelt. We'll be learning a bit about the fungi in our forest and how they interact with their ecosystem and its health. We'll also be removing non-native weeds (looking at you blackberry!) from our restoration area and applying mulch to bare ground and around plantings to help the native plants there grow and thrive and to make way for new native plantings in the fall, as well as creating "Cones of Light" around young trees deeper in the woods to assist in their continued growth. We hope to see you there!
All ages OK
14 out of 25 participants registered.
What to Bring
Please bring with you what you will need to be comfortable whilst spending a few hours working outside. Dress in clothed layers for the weather, and consider bringing additional dry, insulating, or waterproof layers.
Remember to bring water, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, or any other accessories to protect yourself from the elements.
Remember that blackberry thorns are sharp and can snag clothing, and that the terrain may be uneven and/or wet.
We will be providing gloves and tools for all to use, as well as snacks, hot drinks, and water.
