Warren G. Magnuson Park - Camas prairie restoration07/22/2026
Activities
We'll be working to maintain a special project of the Muckleshoot tribe and UW environmental science department. During the academic year, students will work in this area to create a camas prairie resplendent with plants that are culturally important to the Muckleshoot tribe including camas flowers, nodding wild onion, and more. Once established, this prairie will serve as a source for future restorations in the Puget Sound region.
Weeds need to be knocked back this summer to keep previous efforts on track. Please join us to help remove thistle and invasive grasses. We'll also add more mulch.
During the work party, we can talk about the multi-year project, learn about the plants, and the history of the area.
Adults only

What to Bring
Gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. Wear closed toe shoes you don't mind getting dirty. Dress for the day's weather. Wear layers if it is chilly and if it is rainy bring rain gear. Bring a full water bottle and snack.
Where to Meet
We'll meet at the work site. It is north of the E4 parking lot past the fins art installation. To get there from the parking lot, walk north from the swimming beach building along the paved Lake Shore Promenade about two city blocks. Look for the gravel trail on your left for the meeting spot.
