Come and join me for some some overdue maintenance of this highly-visited portion of Discovery Park! Junes Cathedral is a beautiful parcel with shady conifer stands, giant maple trees, and sunny meadows. Today we will be cutting back and digging up the aggressive Himalayan blackberry patch that's rapidly spreading into the adjacent meadow. Later in the fall, we'll be planting the areas we've cleared with native plants, to provide food and habitat for the park's many species.

What to Bring

Long sleeve shirt, pants, and boots or at least closed toe shoes. Blackberries have thorns!
Gloves if you have some you like, otherwise we have plenty to share.
Water and snacks.

Where to Meet

We will meet at the bike rack at the southern entrance to the park on Emerson. It's about a 5 minute walk from the south parking lot.

Where to Park

The best parking spot is the south parking lot, with the entrance on W Emerson St. There is some street parking outside the southern entrance but it's limited.
