We work to restore the natural ecosystem of this forest; reclaim the greenspace as a place to provide health and vitality; reconnect our community to the natural world; and reimagine how we connect with each other and the world around us. more |

Carkeek S.T.A.R.S. work partyApril 21, 9am-12pm @ Carkeek Park Join other enthusiastic volunteers for a fun morning of forest restoration and trails maintenance. Deadhorse Canyon Earth DayApril 21, 9am-1pm @ Lakeridge Park Come to the best kept secret natural area in Seattle, Deadhorse Canyon, to help us in our continuing battle for truth, justice, and ecosystem services. We always declare victory at 1 PM. We will be doing one or more of the following: - Remove invasive vegetation (e.g. ivy, blackberry) - Maintain the trail - Remove trash (this is the most glamorous job we have!) more |

Duwamish Alive! Earth DayApril 21, 10am-2pm @ Herrings House Park (Tulaltwx) Celebrate Duwamish Alive! Earth Day at Herrings House on the shores of Seattle's only river and last ancient river bend where the Duwamish Tribe's village of Basket Hat once stood and now provide habitat for juvenile salmon on their way to the ocean. We will be removing invasive weeds and trash from this important site. Come discover your river and help make it green. Supplies will be provided along with snacks. more |

Earth Day Magnuson ReforestationApril 21, 12:30pm-3:30pm @ Warren G. Magnuson Park Help improve habitat and create replacement forest on a formerly denuded navy air base. The work will include loading wheelbarrows with wood chips and moving them to thickly mulch a newly planted site. t is also an opportunity to enjoy nature and learn a bit about native plants while doing satisfying work. Participants need to be of at least high school age to be physically capable of the work. more |

Depending on the time of the year, we'll be pulling ivy, grubbing blackberry roots, planting new native plants, or mulching; but always having a good time! Work party regulars include naturalists who are happy to answer your questions about the birds, beasts, shrubs, and trees that live in the East Duwamish. Jackson Park Trail Restoration monthly 3rd Saturday work party!April 21, 10am-2pm @ Jackson Park Golf Course Say hello to the earth, meet new people, and contribute to the restoration of this great patch of natural ground. The 2.2-mile Jackson Park Trail in North Seattle encircles the Jackson Park Golf Course, passing through pockets of forest, crossing Thornton Creek, and offering views of the golf course/green space. Were continuing to transform the natural areas by removing ivy, blackberry and other invasive plants and putting native plant species in their place. Its hard! Its fun! Youll love it! more |
