First Fall Workparty Beaver Pond Natural Area 2022October 02, 10am-12pm @ Beaver Pond Natural Area on TC Buttercups pretty to look at but giving our baby rhodies a hard time! Help us remove the last of the buttercup carpet at the 104th street entry of Beaver Pond Natural Area, followed by mulching to help keep it from getting a foothold again. If we get finished with that, there is some easy maintenance weeding around new natives planted last fall by 105th Street. OR we may break into two teams if we get enough volunteers, and then you can pick your preferred weeding pastime. more |

Magnuson ReforestationOctober 02, 10am-1pm @ Warren G. Magnuson Park Help improve habitat and create replacement forest on a formerly denuded navy airfield. The aim is to create healthy forest habitat and increase beneficial ecosystem services including provision of human enjoyment and health. It is also an opportunity to enjoy nature and learn a bit about native plants while doing satisfying work. Work is most likely to include removing invasive plants like blackberry, ivy, and Canada thistle but may also include other tasks such as distributing wood chip mulch. more |
